About Accelerating the Transition to Electric Vehicles for Sustainable Transport Short Course

Australia Awards in Indonesia is seeking applications for the Accelerating the Transition to Electric Vehicles for Sustainable Transport Solutions Short Course. This course aims to showcase Australian policies, expertise and initiatives related to transitioning from Internal Combustion Engine (ICE) vehicles to EVs. The course will provide participants with knowledge of best-practice policies and regulations to support this and how these policies can be practically employed in Indonesia to support its EV aspirations.


The course will focus on policy areas that are front of mind for Indonesian policymakers on EV issues, such as:

• Energy supply technology

• EV precinct infrastructure (charging infrastructure), and

• EV fleet and maintenance

The course includes a 2-week course in Australia and two workshops in Indonesia. The course is offered to 25 participants, and it is targeted to Echelon 2 and 3 Level officials from the Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment, Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS), Ministry of Finance, Ministry of Transport, Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources, Ministry of Industry, Chamber of Commerce (KADIN), PT PLN, and Local and Provincial Governments.


Learning objectives

The course will focus on the following learning objectives (the course will help participants):

• Explore Australian policies, expertise, and initiatives in accelerating the transition to Electric Vehicles

• Explore and identify opportunities for financing, legislative and regulatory environment for successful management of partnerships in accelerating the transition to EVs

• Benchmark and share experiences and best practices on policies and initiatives in accelerating the transition to EVs regionally and globally

• Identify EV stakeholders (including their roles and responsibilities) and develop stakeholder engagement/management plans

• Analyse risks and challenges in accelerating the transition to EVs and develop mitigation strategies

• Develop action plans to improve the transition to EVs (including interagency collaboration and harmonisation of policies and regulations)

• Identify ways Australia and Indonesia can continue to work together to advance collaboration on EVs

• Build networks with Australian institutions and experts for partnerships and strengthen networks between participating agencies, including research and private sector collaboration opportunities between the two countries.

This is a fully funded short course. Course fees, mobilisation costs, return airfares (domestic and international), insurance in Australia (OSHC), accommodation (in Indonesia and Australia), per diem, transport allowance and visa will be covered by Australia Awards in Indonesia.

To apply for this course, you must be:

• S1 level qualification or higher with a minimum of five years of relevant professional experience

• Primarily Echelon 2 and 3 level government representatives

• Government of Indonesia representative from the following institutions:

i) Coordinating Ministry for Maritime and Investment

ii) Coordinating Ministry of Economic Affairs

iii) Ministry of National Development Planning (BAPPENAS)

iv) Ministry of Finance

v) Ministry of Transport

vi) Ministry of Energy and Mineral Resources

vii) Ministry of Industry

viii) Chamber of Commerce (KADIN)

ix) PT PLN Persero

x) State Owned Enterprises

xi) Local Governments (DKI Jakarta, West Java and Bali)

• Endorsed by current manager/supervisor;

• Committed to preparing and implementing an Award Project, a small group development project, as part of the course. Women and people with disabilities are encouraged to apply!


Applicants are expected to have professional working proficiency in English.

The applicants’ English language competency is part of the selection process. The language competency assessment is based on a phone interview and any additional evidence provided by the applicant (proof of studies or living in an English-speaking country, working in an English-speaking environment, completion of studies in English, language courses or language tests). The course will be delivered in English.
